This Unit, which is delivered over 4 x 1 day sessions, considers the issues involved in the access and control of technology for communication and learning. Course participants will investigate the issues around the seating and positioning of a client to improve their control of technology and the considerations for mounting equipment appropriately. Further consideration will be given to the range of hardware and software available and participants will critically evaluate access methods, strategies and the long term consequences of their use.
Participants will become aware of the importance of working collaboratively with the client, family, support agencies and relevant professionals throughout the assessment and implementation cycle.
